Free WiFi internet access in the Philippines available in July

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is planning to implement a public free Wifi connection across the country starting July 2015.

The wireless connection have an average speed of 256kbps and it will be available in the following places:
1. Public Plazas and Parks
2. Public Primary and Secondary Central Schools
3. Public Libraries
4. Rural Health Units & Government Hospitals
5. State Universities & Colleges
6. Train Stations of the MRT and LRT systems
7. Airports and Seaports
8. City and Municipal Halls
9. National Government Offices

The project called “Free Wi-Fi Internet Access in Public Places” has a budget of Php1.408 billion which was authorized in the 2015 General Appropriations Act (GAA). Internet wifi provider will bid on the project.
